Exploring the Edge: A Yoga Intensive Set in the Jungle of Nicaragua
February 15-22nd, 2014 at Aqua Nicaragua
Join Cecily for a week-long retreat at Aqua Nicaragua Wellness Resort to discover new depths in your yoga practice. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, this incomparable setting features treehouse living, farm-to-table meals, breathtaking sunsets, and the ocean lulling you to sleep each night. Daily yoga classes and workshops, complemented with activities to stretch your comfort zone—surfing, deep-sea fishing, horse-back riding and more—will ensure that you depart Nicaragua feeling transformed. As part of the retreat, we will also put the yogic principle of ahimsa into practice, donating our time and energy to the Gigantes beach community, where Aqua is located.
Prices start at $1900USD (click on poster above for full pricing), and include accommodation, airport transfers to/from Managua, 3 meals/day, all yoga classes, as well as a spa massage. Airfare is not included.
The retreat program has been designed with those in mind who have an existing yoga practice. If you are relatively new to yoga, however, you are still encouraged to contact Cecily to discuss whether this retreat may be suitable – anyone looking for an in-depth yoga experience in this breathtaking setting will not be turned away! Each morning at Aqua will begin with a short seated group meditation, followed by asana (posture) practice. After breakfast, guests will have time to enjoy Aqua’s private beach, curl up under the canopy with a good book, or wander to the nearby town of Gigantes to try their hand at surfing. During three of our afternoons together, workshops will be offered where students can ask questions about aspects of their yoga practice they find challenging. Topics may include inversions (headstand, handstand and arm balances), partner yoga and the exploration of trust and communication, pain-free backbends and injury avoidance, as well as restorative yoga.
We will also be teaming up with Project WOO, an outreach group based in Gigantes that is dedicated to community-driven, hands-on development. If you have a certain area of expertise (medicine, law, education, building/construction, art, etc.) please let us know so these skills can be taken into consideration when planning our time with this amazing organization.
Still on the fence? Have a look at where you could be practicing in February…
